Our Story

What we do

We raise animals, eggs, vegetables and plants in an organic way. That means we take great pains to limit the use of any pesticide including organic on our plants. Our animals have not been given hormones or antibiotics and are raised on chemical free pasture and fed a chemical free feed.

What we believe

We believe that our world was created for animals and plants to co-exist in a symbiotic way. Everything we do at Backlund Acres respects the science of the need for plants and animals to co-exist. We are constantly experimenting with crop rotation and companion planting to manage soil nutrients, attract pollinators and control pests as well as integrating animals into the garden and orchard to eliminate unwanted critters.

We believe animals were meant to have access to the outdoors and a salad bar of nutrient rich grasses and plants.

We believe in supporting farmers who are growing organically by purchasing non-gmo, transitionally organic (fields transitioning to organic or choosing not to spray) feed for our animals.

We believe that healthy animals + healthy earth = healthy you

How we got here

In 2014 we went on a farming journey with some good friends of ours, Travis and Kate Wilson also known as Adaugeo Farms. None of us knew anything about farming but our beliefs aligned on how animals and the earth should be treated. We dove in head first and started by raising 1000 chickens and maybe 10 pigs our first year. Since then we have raised more animals each year and from that was born Backlund Acres. In 2020 eggs and vegetables were added to our offerings and in 2021 we have added organically grown vegetable and flower plants.
