Backlund Acres and Friends Community Supported Agriculture

What is a CSA?

CSA is a unique relationship between farmers and it’s community of members.

CSA stands for "Community Supported Agriculture". As a member, you join in the community of our farm and pay an upfront fee. In return, during the farming season, each week members will receive a share of what the farm produces. CSA benefits us by guaranteeing a stable market for our produce throughout the season, as well as providing upfront funding to buy seeds and supplies. In return, our members get a great value on the farm's organic, super fresh produce; the satisfaction of engaging directly with the food they eat and the people who grow it; and a community of likeminded eaters.

Our CSA runs from the beginning of June through mid-October, with an option to add a fall extension.

We focus on staple crops, but include some lesser-known veggies so you can try new things.

2026 CSA Registration

Each week throughout the summer we have bags of freshly harvested organic vegetables, eggs, microgreens, and meat available for farm pick up or delivery. We enjoy growing food in the healthiest and most humane way possible. Our favorite part is distributing it to you! Scroll down to see what’s new this year.

Step 1:

Decide if you would like a standard or deluxe bag size. Picture is an example of a standard size.

Step 2:

Choose your share style.

  • U-pick - PICK OUT EXACTLY WHAT VEGGIES YOU WANT FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. Come to the farm each week on Fridays from 11 to 4 or Saturdays from 8 to 12 to shop our on-site market. (Best value) click here for more information

  • Traditional CSA with drop spot or home delivery. Click here for more information.

  • Worker share - work a shift each week for a free standard CSA share. Click here for more information.

**see below to compare your options

Step 3: (drop spot and home deliveries only)

Choose which drop spot you would like to pick up your CSA share from, or select home delivery.

Below is a map of our delivery zone. If you live within the blue area, you are in our delivery zone! If you are not in our delivery zone, you can select to pick up from the farm or a drop spot.

Purple stars mark our current drop spots.

Step 4:

Add an egg or chicken share to your cart if you would like those delivered with your vegetables this season.

**Please note, when paying for your CSA share on our website, please consider using the option to pay using a check. The payment option is called “US Bank”. This helps us all to save money on CC fees. Thanks!

*** If you would like us to send you an invoice that you can pay as you are able to, please email backlundacres@outlook.com.

What’s New in 2026

  • We have a new drop spot in Minneapolis at a wonderful local deli called The Shepard’s Table. The deli offers many other local things for sale such as cheeses, meats, dairy products and baked goods. I highly recommend choosing this drop spot if you are in the area and are committed to eating local as it is a great place to get your grocery shopping done for the week.

  • We have a new drop spot in Prior Lake at Edelweiss! We are still looking for a drop spot in the Edina area that will be a good fit for us, we will add it to the map when we find a good fit. Feel free to change drop spots as more options become available.

  • We are changing the way that we offer some of our add-on items. Rather than selling shares for flowers, microgreens and cheese, we would like for them to be available for CSA delivery members to purchase online as a special order and for them to be available as items in the farm store on Fridays and Saturdays for U-pick members. We also plan to occasionally include microgreens as an item in CSA delivery bags. This will allow us to have more variety for purchase online and in the farm store.

  • Chicken shares are not available for drop spot pick up this year. They are available to those choosing home delivery or U-pick only.

  • We have a limited number of home delivery spaces available, so sign up early if that is your need.

  • Our farm store will be open an additional week (19 weeks total). This will allow for everyone choosing U-pick to take a week off of their choosing throughout the year.

FAQs

  • I am still looking for additional drop site locations. If you are interested in hosting, please email backlundacres@outlook.com.

We will need at least 5 people signed up for the drop site in order for everyone to get the lesser deliver fee ($25).

  • I recommend starting with the standard size if you have never been a part of a CSA.

The deluxe size is for those who are experienced cooks and want to preserve for the winter.

  • For both home and dropsite deliveries you will get an email and text message the night before your delivery day with a 2 hour window for your delivery. You do not need to be home for delivery, but if you are not going to be there it is recommended you set a cooler out. You will get another text message 30 minutes prior to your delivery and another when the delivery has been made.

  • You may choose to pick up from the farm on a different day or gift your bag to a neighbor or friend.
