Shepard's Way Farms Cheese Share
This is an ADD ON product to your Vegetable CSA Share, not a stand alone product.
Cheese CSA members will receive a monthly cheese share (5 months) made up of an assortment of Shepherd’s Way Farms cheese 1 pound (usually 3 pieces). Often includes our more familiar cheeses -- Friesago, Big Woods Blue, Shepherd’s Hope, Hidden Falls. And, our limited edition Burr Oak and Sogn. Our CSA members were the first to ever try these two! In the spring, members received our hard-to-find seasonal Morcella, a bloomy rind sheep milk cheese with morel mushrooms.
Members have also received selections not available in stores -- a fresh sheep milk cheese (similar to chevre), Adobo Cheese Spread, Country French Spread, Shepherd’s bonbons (fresh vanilla cheese rolled in chocolate), traditional whey ricotta, skyr (Icelandic yogurt-like cheese) and more. Members are also invited to exclusive member events at the farm, in non-pandemic times.

We are excited to be able to offer a sheep cheese add-on from Shepherd's Way Farms!
Your cheese CSA add-on includes a varying selection of our farmstead, handcrafted sheep cheeses. Ranging from ricotta, to fresh sheep cheese, tomme style, Manchego style, blue to bloomy rinds, cheeses will be selected to best pair with seasonal produce and will include recipes and pairing suggestions.
Sheep cheese is a bit harder to find because there are few sheep dairies in this country and sheep produce less milk than goats or cows. Sheep milk is highly valued because it is exceptionally nutritious, with more calcium, protein and many other nutrients than cow or goat milk. And it makes delicious cheese!
Shepard’s Way Farms has been raising sheep and making cheese just outside Northfield for more than 20 years. They love caring for the land, their animals and making cheese for the community.

The Shepherd's Way Farms cheese add-on begins in June and runs through October, with a pick-up once a month with your usual CSA pick-up. Cheese CSA add-on is $150 for the season.
